Fathers, Sons & Fathers- a Photographic Essay

Well, opening night for the exhibition was last night and it was a great success with about 200 people turning up to see my exhibition and Dan O'Day's There you Aren't.

It was the culmination of almost 2 years work and I feel very proud of it. Check it out at M16 Artspace, 16 Mildura st Fyshwick.

Pictures from the opening coming soon!

a couple of images from the show

Top image is Patto + Chas and bottom image is Geoff + Ben
Each image has added text written by each father, son, garndfather or grandson talking about their relationship, fatherhood and their lives. Most of the words are poignant, touching warm, direct, funny and surprisingly emotional...well that was the effect they had on me when I read them!
Hope you can come along and see the exhibiton, but if you cannot then tune into ABC TV Canberra Stateline on the 5th September for a little look.

Fathers, Sons & Fathers- a Photographic Essay

Hi all,
Opening on the 4th September at 6pm at M16 Artspace Fyshwick in Canberra as part of the VIVID Festival of Photography ( www.nla.gov.au/vivid ) is my exhibition after a long two years of capturing the images and trying to work out just how I am going to present them...
Have got some lovely images but the best part is the fact that the participants have written some words to compliment their images. I have found the words make the whole project come together so beautifully and if there weren't any, it would just be a series of nice portraits of men and boys...
I am sharing the space with Dan O'Day, photographer and artist, and his exhibition There you Aren't and we would love to see you there. Dan's images are SOOOO different to mine I was worried how it would all look in the space, but we both feel that its going to look great!!

We are excited!!

Its on until 14th and the gallery hours are 12-5 Wednesday to Sunday...

If you cannot make it to the opening then the is a piece on Sateline ABC TV on the 5th September...

When I get organised I shall post a couple of images, but I shall also post some images of the opening too!

yee haa!

A time of change!

Well, I am sitting at my mother's PC as Henry, my 4 year old and I have just moved out of our home and in transit to our new home hopefully in about a month.... It was really sad leaving what has been Henry's only home since his birth and for me it was the longest I had ever lived in one spot, 9 years!

Our new home is lovely and we will be moving into it at the beginning of August. I want to paint the whole house and polish the floors before we move in.

As for my business I shall be spending some money on a lovely big room at our new place. I have a gorgeous space and will be fabulous once I have "tarted" it up. I am going to document the progress on the blog and no doubt I shall crack a bottle of bubbles when its done. Business will be running as per normal although the landline will be diverted to my mobile until I am fully settled in the new studio space...so want to call then use the mobile please!

So our new home is twice the size but had enough money left over from the old place to buy myself a brand new car, too. Finally, a car that doesnt leave a trail of oil!

It is a time of great change for my little family, its sad but exciting at the same time.

..............and all of this happening at the same time as VIVID, the ACT AIPP 2008 Awards and me still preparing for my upcoming exhibition...yikes!! (and I still havent finished my post from Perth!)
